Little did I know back then that eight or so months later I would be undergoing an operation. But sometimes things happen when you least expect. And in my case it had to happen when I was on the other side of the world, away from everything. For almost four months prior to the operation carried out towards the end of May 2008, I was in a great deal of pain. Without dramatizing, I would always remember those four months as the most difficult.
But as they say every cloud has a silver lining, and that silver lining I saw it in friends who played their part in helping me to keep going. People who in truth came out of nowhere, most of whom I never knew before. Now I know who they are, just as much as they know who they are. And in the simplest of forms I say thank you for being there. I am forever indebted to you all.
It’s over a year since I started posting in this blog. Admittedly I never thought it was going to take this long. If it wasn’t for my infirmity, I would have finished it in half the time, even less. Now that I have, I almost feel a sense of relief.
A word about the blog. While it is not for me to comment about the content, I would like to point out that I never took any notes when travelling. The postings are pieced together from memory. However all the postings are based on what actually happened and in a sequential order.
Another detail, to read previous postings please scroll down to the end of the page and click on Older Posts, so forth until you come to the very first posting.
Before I conclude, I would be happy to receive any comments you may wish to share. I may not be on the road at the moment but you can email your comments to : isontheroad@gmail.com
And while I continue the road to recovery instead, I wait for whatever may come. Until then…..Thank you…..
Best regards
Chris
